Dominant Day for India in Ahmedabad Test

Recent news Article

On October 2, 2025, India delivered a commanding performance on the opening day of the first bgaming free play Test against the West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After West Indies captain Roston Chase won the toss and elected to bat, India’s bowlers quickly asserted their dominance.

Mohammed Siraj led the attack with a fiery spell, taking four wickets for 40 runs. He dismissed Tagenarine Chanderpaul for a duck, Brandon King for 13, and Alick Athanaze for 12. Jasprit Bumrah supported with three wickets for 42 runs, including the key scalp of John Campbell for 8. Kuldeep Yadav also contributed, removing Shai Hope for 26 just before lunch. The West Indies were bowled out for a mere 162 runs in 44.1 overs.

In India’s reply, KL Rahul anchored the innings with an unbeaten 53 runs off 114 balls, including six boundaries. He shared a 68-run opening partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who made a solid 36. After Jaiswal’s dismissal, Sai Sudharsan was dismissed cheaply for 7 runs. Shubman Gill, the new captain, joined Rahul at the crease, and the pair saw India to 121/2 at stumps, trailing by just 41 runs.

The day’s play was marked by India’s disciplined bowling and solid batting, putting them in a strong position heading into Day 2. With eight wickets in hand and a dry pitch that could assist spinners, India will look to build a substantial lead and take control of the match.
